Matthew 3:12; Daniel 3:15-20; Daniel 3:25

Fire in mentioned in the Bible more than five hundred times and has several purposes. In Daniel 3, we learn that those who refused to worship the image that King Nebuchadnezzar created were thrown in the fiery furnace. Regardless of the consequences Shadrach, Meschach, and Abed-nego refused to worship the idol image because they trusted that the God they served could deliver them from whatever punishment awaited. They had the Spirit of the Lord which resulted in an unquenchable fire on the inside. Their refusal to betray God only angered Nebuchadnezzar even more and they were tossed in the furnace. While in the furnace, the Lord was with them and delivered them from the fire unharmed. Just like Nebuchadnezzar, the enemy becomes infuriated when Christians take a stand for God. However, when we stand firm on God’s Word, He is able to deliver us from any fires the opponent wants to put us in. Who we choose to serve is up to us. Like Shadrach, Meschach, and Abed-nego, we should choose now to serve the Lord wholeheartedly so that an unquenchable fire can be produced in us as well!
